RTH is committed to community health and wellness.  We have a variety of health-related classes for all ages and abilities.  They are:

Senior Fitness

Day/Time:  Mondays at 11:00am

                 Thursdays at 2:30pm

Location:  Flynn House

Fee:  Free

This class is for seniors and those residents that have physical limitations. The class consists of gentle stretches and aerobics to get your blood flowing. Many exercises use a chair and you can go at your own pace.  This is a very fun and popular class.

 

Aerobics Class

 The first half of the Aerobics class is dedicated to low impact cardio workout to get the heart pumping and the muscles warmed. The second half of the class consists of some Pilates and other mat exercises condition to legs and abs., sometimes incorporating arm exercises with hand weights.

 

Yoga

 A linking of breath and body movements is the focus of this gentle class that allows anyone to participate. Chairs are used for those who benefit from them, but all class movements may be modified to accommodate any individual wishing to participate in the class without the support of the chairs

 

Bengali Dance

Walking Groups

 Residents walk at least once a week for 30 to 60 minutes. The walks not only promote physical activity but also are an opportunity for residents to meet new people and show community spirit. Everyone is welcome!

 

Smoking Cessation Program

 Date:  TBA

Fee:    Free

 Tobacco Treatment Services Smoking Cessation Program is a behavior modification based program designed to assist tobacco users, when they are motivated, to cut down and quit tobacco permanently.  This program utilizes the latest methods of behavior modification, motivational strategies and pharmacotherapy options.

 In this six or eight session program, participants will learn the tools to assist them in quitting smoking successfully.  Session topics include:

  • Dealing with physical and psychological/emotional withdrawal
  • Stress management strategies
  • Nutrition and weight control
  • Forming healthy new alternatives to smoking
  • Use of nicotine replacement therapy
  • Relapse prevention
