The computer learning center
offers you various ways to
gain some of those computer skills and to upgrade those you
already have.
The Computer Learning
Center is open to all our residents with Open Access times
available Monday – Friday, 2 -8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 6
p.m. with FREE INTERNET ACCESS.
The Computer
Learning Center offers short term classes for teens, adults,
and seniors on many popular software applications such as
Microsoft Office 2007, Photoshop CS3, Dreamweaver (web
design), Microsoft Publisher (desktop publishing) and computer
repair. Check the class calendar for class start dates.
Technology
Club House
The Technology Club
House provides supplementary learning time for students in
elementary and middle school who need extra assistance in
mastering the fundamentals of mathematics and improving
reading skills. Projects focus on math, reading, writing,
science, vocabulary building, computer skills training,
digital photography, computer graphics and educational games.
Computer
Classes
Into to
Computers is a very
basic class. Learn how to start and shut down, how to play
games to develop valuable mouse skills, how to use the basic
Windows text editors, the Keyboard. The main emphasis is to
stimulate the student’s interest in personal computing by
showing them how to perform practical tasks and enjoy games.
Time permitting file management basics will be provided.
Leave ready to tackle more advanced applications like the
Internet, E-mail and Word Processing.

COMPUTER
BASICS
includes the history of computers and how they operate, types
of computers, computer components (hardware), operating
systems, graphical user interface (GUI), and methods of input
and output. Business/personal software applications such as
word processing, spreadsheets, and database management will be
introduced. Integration of software applications will be
incorporated. FREE

Some knowledge of the keyboard and mouse is helpful
Word 2007
(Beginning or Intermediate) is a word processing program used
for creating and editing documents. You will learn to create,
open and format documents; how to edit, copy and paste, and
use clip art, and much more. FREE
Prerequisite:
Intro to Computers or a basic knowledge of the computer; Must
be able to use the mouse and keyboard.
Excel 2007
(Beginning or Intermediate) is a spreadsheet program.
Spreadsheets are reports that are used for business and
financial application that analyze data in a table format. Any
data that needs analysis using formulas and that can be
arranged in a table should be in a spreadsheet. FREE
Prerequisite:
Intro to Computers or a
basic knowledge of the computer; Must be able to use the mouse
and keyboard.
PowerPoint 2007
(Beginning or
Intermediate) is a graphic presentation program allowing
students to create presentations or show off your pictures in
a slide show format. The Intermediate course covers more
advanced techniques such as creating organizational charts,
working with Excel worksheets and incorporating slide
transitions and animation. FREE
Prerequisite:
Intro to Computers or a basic knowledge of the computer; Must
be able to use the mouse and keyboard.
Internet
Basics
is designed for the beginning computer user and will provide
an introduction to the Internet and all of its parts. Learn
how to use a web browser, navigating a web site, use search
engines (how to find the information you want), and how to
email your family and friends (if time permits). FREE
Prerequisite: Introduction to Computers or those who have had
basic exposure to PC’s and knows how to use the keyboard and
mouse.
Photoshop
Whether you ‘re an
amateur or professional Photoshop offers creative
possibilities to enhance the quality of your images, create
collages, alter images, and photo repair. Discover simple
secrets for improving your photographs and incorporating words
into your images. Learn to use layers and palettes.
Prerequisite:
This class requires an intermediate level knowledge of PC’s.
Knowledge of computer graphics and photography is helpful, but
not required. FREE
Build a Web Page
with Dreamweaver
Learn the basics of
developing a fully functional web site; create tables
,hyperlinks and rollovers , and how to effectively manage the
site. Learn how to actually hang your site on the World Wide
Web with minimum Internet knowledge. Design a site around your
favorite interest or hobby, create a family album and share
photos with family and friends in just a short period of time.
